Official: Chelsea introduce ex-Leipziger Vivell as technical director.

After terminating his contract with RB Leipzig, Christopher Vivell found a new job. As expected, the 36-year-old will become technical director at Chelsea.

The talks about a change in the sporting management of the Blues have been going on for many weeks. On Wednesday morning, Chelsea reported the 36-year-old’s employment as perfect. Vivell should take care of the areas of squad planning and scouting. He had a similar job at RB Leipzig. After Markus Krösche moved to Frankfurt there, Vivell moved up.

Shortly after Max Eberl signed on as the new strong man in Leipzig, the couple split up. These were explained in October with “different views” as the official justification.

It is possible that Vivell’s move to Chelsea faltered due to transfer demands from Leipzig. Apparently an agreement has now been reached. “Chelsea are building the most exciting project in world football and I am very proud to be joining the club. There is so much potential for the club to continue to thrive, develop and grow. Under the new owners, Graham Potter [Trainer] and the broader sports team, there is a clear and sustainable philosophy, underpinned by performance analysis, data and innovation,” explained Vivell at his launch.

New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly also said: “We are delighted to have Christopher take this important leadership role at the club. His work in Germany and Austria speaks for itself. We are confident he can continue his impressive journey here at Chelsea will continue. He will support Graham and the ownership group and play an important role in driving our vision for the club.”
