Obermenzing: Big fire in an apartment building – Munich

In Obermenzing, an apartment building caught fire on Thursday night, but no one was injured, according to initial findings. However, the 27 residents had to be evacuated. 16 were then placed in an emergency shelter, the others looked after themselves independently because the house in Höhenkircherstraße was initially no longer habitable after the extinguishing work. As a precaution, a structural engineer was called in.

The fire brigade was alerted at 3:33 a.m. and had a total of 13 vehicles in action. When she arrived at the scene of the fire near the confluence of Meyerbeer- and Verdistraße, the roof structure of the house was about 25 meters long in flames. With the exception of an 83-year-old man who had to be led out of the building, the other residents were able to leave the building on their own. Shortly before five o’clock the fire brigade had the fire under control, and the extinguishing work lasted another two hours. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
