A 95-year-old motorist caused a traffic accident at an altitude of around 1,400 meters in which he and a motorcyclist were seriously injured. The 95-year-old hit the 59-year-old biker on the Riedberg Pass in the Oberallgäu district and partially rolled over the man and the motorcycle, the police said on Sunday. After that, he drove on at an unchanged speed, brushed against a guardrail and hit a rock face 300 meters further head-on. The accident happened on Saturday afternoon just before the top of the pass, i.e. the highest point. The 95-year-old was trapped in the wrecked car and firefighters had to free him. The two men were taken to hospital seriously injured. Why the accident happened was initially unclear. There was damage of more than 20,000 euros. The pass was blocked for three hours. The Riedbergpass, which leads to an altitude of 1420 meters, is popular with motorcyclists.
