In Oberhausen there was an explosion last night at the Left Party office on Friedensplatz. Was it a bomb attack?

On site, shattered windows can be seen in the pedestrian zone. The party office is devastated. The Essen police are investigating whether a bomb attack is the reason for the nocturnal explosion.

Michael Risthaus sits on the city council for the left faction Oberhausen. He lives only two houses away from the party office and was woken up in the middle of the night by the detonation. Now he looks stunned at the shards on the floor in front of the office.

“My fear is that this was just a threatening attack and that people will also be injured the next time,” says Michael Risthaus. According to the left-wing faction, there have been repeated threatening letters from the right-wing scene in recent weeks.

The area around the Left Office is completely cordoned off. The police forensics is on site and takes three-dimensional photos. State security has taken over the investigation. The police do not yet have any concrete information about the perpetrators.
