Oberföhring: drivers attack cyclists with scissors – Munich

It happens that car drivers and cyclists get upset about the driving style of the other, but only rarely does the discrepancy escalate like it did on Thursday around 12.30 p.m. in Oberföhring. According to the police, a 78-year-old car owner from the district and a 36-year-old cyclist from Munich initially slowed each other down on Stegmühlstraße before the older man spat at the younger man through the car window.

After both vehicles had stopped, the 78-year-old attacked the 36-year-old with household scissors; he defended himself with kicks against the stabbing movements. The senior then attacked his opponent with a pepper spray, which failed because of the wind.

After the 78-year-old drove on, the cyclist called the police. She later found scissors and pepper spray at the man’s home address. During the interrogation, the man collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital by the ambulance service. The traffic police are now investigating attempted dangerous bodily harm, threats and coercion on the road against the 78-year-old. He had already attracted attention in December 2020 with a similarly violent approach.
