Nuremberg: Appeal in trial against “Last Generation” activists – Bavaria

In the case of the climate activists who were fined a week ago by the Nuremberg district court, the public prosecutor’s office has lodged an appeal. This was confirmed by senior public prosecutor Antje Gabriels-Gorsolke of the SZ. “In our opinion, the penalty is in the lower range of what is acceptable, we would have imagined a higher penalty,” said Gabriels-Gorsolke.

The four activists of the “Last Generation” had been fined 40 daily rates each for coercion in at least 18 cases. You have to pay between 400 and 2400 euros. The public prosecutor’s office had demanded nine months’ probation for coercion in a particularly serious case.

In February 2022, the activists, aged between 24 and 57, glued themselves to the road at a motorway exit in Nuremberg and blocked traffic to demonstrate for more climate protection. After the hearing, you yourself announced that you would appeal against the verdict in order to obtain an acquittal. According to the judicial press office, an activist did this until Monday. The deadline for filing an appeal ends on Wednesday.
