Nubia RedMagic 8 Pro & Pro+: Extreme gaming smartphones presented

With Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 already in China, soon global

Nubia has introduced new gaming smartphones in China with the RedMagic 8 Pro and RedMagic 8 Pro+. They offer, for example, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and an under-display front camera. There will also be a global RedMagic launch in January.

The RedMagic 8 series is now official for the Chinese market and Nubia is already holding a corresponding global launch event on January 16th. The new additions from the smartphone company associated with ZTE are called RedMagic 8 Pro and RedMagic 8 Pro+, there is no regular RedMagic 8. In this country, however, only the Pro model will appear. At the end of January there should be an early bird offer and the international market launch will officially follow in February.

6,000 mAh battery in the RedMagic 8 Pro

Both models differ only in the battery and memory equipment. The RedMagic 8 Pro offers a battery capacity of 6,000 mAh and is loud data sheet a maximum charging power of 80 watts, while the Pro+ charges with up to 165 watts, but has 5,000 mAh. According to the manufacturer, a full charge takes either 35 or 14 minutes, depending on the model. However, the English-language press release sounds like that Pro model supports 165 watts, but comes with an 80-watt power adapter. In addition, the Pro model in China is available with a maximum of 12+256 gigabytes, whereas the RedMagic 8 Pro+ is even available with 16 gigabytes of RAM and one terabyte of mass storage.

Under-display camera and shoulder buttons

The AMOLED screen measures diagonally 6.8 inches and should cover almost 94 percent of the front. As with some ZTE smartphones, there is one Under Display Camera used, in this case with 16 megapixels. The screen resolution is 2,480 × 1,116 pixels, the refresh rate is 120 Hertz and there is a touch sampling rate of up to 960 Hertz. In addition to the classic touch operation, the gaming smartphones also offer again Touch shoulder buttons with 520 Hertz in a metal frame. The fingerprint sensor integrated into the display with a heart rate measurement function is also worth mentioning.

For sufficient gaming performance, Nubia installs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 along with a 2,068 square millimeter vapor chamber and several layers of graphite. On active fan with up to 20,000 revolutions per minute and a specially developed R2 gaming chip are also available. There are three cameras on the glass back: a Samsung GN5 main sensor with 50 megapixels, an eight-megapixel wide-angle camera and a macro camera with two megapixels.
