Nübel wants a clear perspective: FC Bayern is negotiating with a replacement for Manuel Neuer

Nübel wants a clear perspective
FC Bayern is negotiating a replacement for Manuel Neuer

Alexander Nübel is actually on loan to AS Monaco until the summer. However, his advisor has now confirmed that FC Bayern would like to bring the goalkeeper back after Manuel Neuer’s serious injury. However, there are several hurdles.

According to a media report, the German soccer record champion FC Bayern Munich is in negotiations with AS Monaco about the early return of goalkeeper Alexander Nübel. “Yes, Bayern want to bring Alexander back and have informed me about it. It is now primarily up to the clubs to find an agreement. It is important for Alexander to know what his perspective is,” quoted the TV broadcaster Sky Nübel’s adviser Stefan Backs. After the injury of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, the Bundesliga soccer club is urgently looking for a keeper for the rest of the season.

Nübel moved to Munich from FC Schalke 04 in the summer of 2020 as a potential successor to national goalkeeper Neuer. After only making four competitive appearances in his first season, the former U21 international goalkeeper was loaned out to Monaco on a two-year deal in the summer of 2021. Since then, he has been a regular in sixth place in Ligue 1.

Nübel’s loan contract with Monaco runs until June 30, 2023. FC Bayern would therefore have to pay financial compensation to the French in order to bring the 26-year-old back early. According to Sky information, there is a seven-digit fee in the room. The French European Cup participant actually wanted to tie Nübel longer. In addition, his relationship with the Munich goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic, a new confidante, is considered to be strained.

In the at least six months without Neuer, who broke his lower leg on a ski tour, the goalkeeper could show whether he actually has the number 1 format. But he might have to step back into the second rank behind Neuer. The goalkeeper had called that a no-go several times. Neuer, on the other hand, has already announced that he wants to move back into the regular formation after his rehabilitation.
