After a fire in a facility for the disabled, rescue workers try to resuscitate three people. Two die and one is seriously injured in the hospital. How could this happen?

After the devastating fire in a facility for people with disabilities in Kamen with two fatalities, the criminal police have started the investigation. A police spokesman reported on Tuesday after investigators had examined the scene of the fire the night before.

Two residents – a 43-year-old and a 46-year-old man – died in the fire late Monday evening. A third person – a 22-year-old resident – is in acute danger of death, said the police spokesman.

Severely disabled people live in the home. The residents were escorted out of the facility after the fire broke out. It was initially unclear exactly how many it was, details were not yet known the day after the incident. A large number of firefighters extinguished the flames.
