Novak Djokovic blasts Andrey Rublev and closes in on Rafael Nadal’s record 22nd Grand Slam

Thigh discomfort, what thigh discomfort? Supposed to have been diminished since the start of this Australian Open, Novak Djokovic continues the demonstrations, and the most brilliant has just taken place this Wednesday, in the quarter-final against Andrey Rublev (6-1, 6-2, 6-4 ). The 25-year-old Russian, world number 6, only lasted 2:03 in the Rod Laver Arena, and was martyred throughout the meeting by the Serb.

Andrey Ryblev did not convert the slightest break point (only five opportunities), and crossed like a ghost this expected match as more uncertain. It is now hard to imagine the surprising American Tommy Paul (35th in the world) offering a completely different resistance to “Djoko” in the semi-finals on Friday.

Casually, the latter is approaching without forcing the 22nd Grand Slam title (and his tenth in Melbourne) which he covets so much, because it would allow him to equal Rafael Nadal’s record. And this before having several opportunities to overtake him this season, seen as the young generation is currently undergoing the law of the ruthless Serbian.
