Novak Djokovic back in Australia: continues as unvaccinated favorite

Tennis star Novak Djokovic lost some sympathy last year when he didn’t want to comply with the Australian vaccination requirements and was therefore not allowed to take part in the Australian Open. Now he’s back Down Under – with meaningful words and hardly any serious competitors.

It’s almost all about him now. The tournament hasn’t even started yet. The Australian Open, the first Grand Slam event of the year, starts this Monday. Novak Djokovic wasn’t there last year. One of the most successful tennis players of all time had to leave Australia in 2022 before his first match due to his lack of vaccination against the corona virus. His visa had previously been canceled and an entry ban of three years imposed. The ban on entering the country was lifted by the authorities in November.
