North of the Brenner Pass: Critics call for a “restart instead of another farce” – Ebersberg

The dispute over the train route for the northern access to the Brenner Pass through the southern district of Ebersberg continues. After the planners at Deutsche Bahn decided on the “Limone” route variant in July of this year, the opponents of this decision are now countering this decision again. They accuse the rail company of spreading false information – and threaten to sue the route.

Coming from Ostermünchen in the district of Rosenheim, this runs directly past the small towns of Niclasreuth and Dorfen in the municipality of Aßling, before the new tracks at Lorenzenberg disappear into an approximately 1.5-kilometer-long tunnel. It ends at Hamberg, from where the route via Schammach and Taglaching near Kirchseeon is rejoined with the existing route. Since the decision was announced, critics have complained that this route cuts through the previously untouched landscape and instead called for an expansion along the existing train tracks.

The critics resist the impression that the route was coordinated with the region

In a circular letter to selected decision-makers, Deutsche Bahn recently tried to explain the surcharge for “lime” – but from the point of view of the critics “not factually and objectively”. The circular is “a sad example of how regional railway representatives communicate with the population, politics and also within the railways,” says a press release from the citizens’ initiative of the Brenner-Nordzulauf district of Ebersberg. Specifically, the critics are bothered by the fact that the railway’s communication gives the impression that “Limone” is coordinated with the region, that the route bypasses places instead of crossing them and helps to protect the region from noise. However, all of this is by no means the case.

The members of the citizens’ initiative are therefore asking the planners to reconsider their decision. “Whitewashing, wiping away and window dressing doesn’t help. If Deutsche Bahn now fails to carry out an objective and fact-based reassessment and an unbiased revision, DB is solely responsible for delaying the project,” write the opponents of the route, who have given the rail company lengthy problems Legal proceedings threaten: “Lawsuits will inevitably occur with such a dubious approach and the Limone route would not stand up in court due to the errors in the route selection process,” the critics are convinced.

The two parties to the dispute will meet again this month. At the next dialogue forum on November 24, engineer Andreas Brandmaier’s critical analysis of the Bahn decision will be discussed. The engineer from Niclasreuth had dealt intensively with the selection process of the project planners and claims to have uncovered some inconsistencies there. For the citizens’ initiative, the goal of the renewed meeting is already clear: “Due to the further grievances in the selection of routes, we appeal to Deutsche Bahn to present a timetable for a real restart instead of another farce.”
