North Korea conducted another missile test during joint US-South Korean military exercises. Ruler Kim justified this with the “open hostility” shown to Pyongyang.
North Korea has launched another missile test. According to South Korean and Japanese sources, a short-range ballistic missile was launched in the northwestern Tongchangri region. She therefore flew around 800 kilometers until she hit the sea off the east coast.
The maneuvers that South Korea is currently conducting with the United States would continue, the South Korean military said. As part of the exercises, the US flew at least one long-range B-1B bomber for joint air training with South Korean fighter jets, South Korea’s defense ministry said today. The military exercises have been running since last Monday. It’s the biggest move in years.
ICBM tested on Thursday
North Korea regularly accompanies the annual joint military exercises with threats and missile tests because the country sees them as preparations for an invasion. North Korea had already tested an ICBM on Thursday.
The state news agency KCNA reported that ruler Kim Jong Un personally oversaw the launch of the Hwasong-17 rocket. He underscored the need to instill “fear in the enemy” over the “open hostility” shown to Pyongyang by the military drills.
