The “German-Russian Partnership” association in Schwerin has received funds from Nord Stream 2 AG. This was confirmed by the managing director of the association at the request of the NDR. The CDU in MV speaks of a veritable Kremlin network in the northeast.
The association received EUR 20,000 in donations from Nord Stream 2 AG each year, explained Madeleine Block, Managing Director of the German-Russian Partnership (DRP). The DRP was launched in 2018 by former Prime Minister Erwin Sellering and was intended, among other things, to promote understanding of Russia in Germany.

CDU General Secretary: Just the tip of the iceberg
CDU General Secretary Daniel Peters told NDR when asked that he feared that one could only see the tip of the iceberg. According to Peters, there is obviously a network in Schwerin that has been equipped with money from the Kremlin for many years and which, in addition to the German-Russian partnership association, also includes the climate foundation, the SPD state association and the state chancellery. The NDR has asked the State Chancellery and the state SPD for statements. The answers are still pending.

René Domke, FDP parliamentary group leader in the state parliament, commented: “Nord Stream 2-AG, as a Gazprom subsidiary, obviously understood well how to buy tickets everywhere for the economic interests of a few oligarchs around the Putin circle.” The extent to which politics was influenced and how party-related the whole thing was has yet to be clarified.
Nord Stream representative and Russia representative have left the association
A representative of Nord Stream 2 AG and the former Russia representative of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania also sat on the board of the association. Both have now not only given up their board positions, but also left the association, according to the managing director of the German-Russian partnership.
