Noël Le Graët will “sue for defamation” the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra

The resigning president of the French Football Federation Noël Le Graët will “sue for defamation” the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, announced his lawyer Thierry Marembert Tuesday on France 5.

“We are going to sue her for defamation before the Court of Justice of the Republic”, affirmed Me Marembert, accusing the minister of having “lied” on the content of the audit report of the General Inspectorate of Education, sport and research (IGESR). The report, delivered on February 15 but never published in its full version, pinpointed the management of the 81-year-old leader, who “no longer has the legitimacy necessary to administer and represent French football”, according to the inspectors.

Inspectors “manipulated” by the minister

According to the Breton leader’s lawyer, the IGESR inspectors “were manipulated, forced by their minister”. The CJR is the only body empowered to investigate or judge acts committed by ministers in the exercise of their functions.

Me Thierry Marembert also affirmed that his client was going to seize the administrative court to request the cancellation of the audit report, “which violated all the principles of impartiality, and adversarial”, according to him. After eleven years as head of French football, Noël Le Graët announced his resignation from the FFF executive committee on Tuesday. The entrepreneur has been the subject of an investigation for moral and sexual harassment since mid-January.
