  • BuzzFeed and the Washington post published this week thousands of emails addressed to or sent by Anthony Fauci during the onset of the Covid-19 crisis.
  • On March 11, 2020, the American scientist received an email explaining how the new coronavirus was created.
  • The content of this email, relayed on social networks, does not however demonstrate it.

Anthony Fauci, the American researcher and scientific advisor to the White House, was he alerted in March 2020 of the method of production of Covid-19? The immunologist was reportedly informed by an email sent to him on March 11.

The subject of this email, relayed on social networks, is “method of producing a coronavirus biological weapon”. “This is how the virus was created” then explains the sender, continuing his message with a paragraph that describes a scientific experiment.

This paragraph does not describe the method of production of Covid-19. It is taken from a scientific article published in 2005, when the first alerts about Covid-19 were not made in China until fourteen years later, in 2019.

This article, published by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania in the journal Pnas, is available online. It deals with SARS, another coronavirus, which spread across the planet in 2003 and caused nearly 800 deaths. The study focuses on an enzyme that would prevent the penetration of SARS. It does not describe how to make a coronavirus biological weapon, one of its authors confirmed to USA Today.

This email received by Anthony Fauci is part of more than 3,200 pages of emails from the scientist obtained and posted on Tuesday by BuzzFeed thanks to a US law. These emails are dated January to June 2020. The message received on March 11 can be seen here on page 2.286.

The Washington post also obtained some of the scientist’s correspondence. The scientist would have received up to 1,000 emails per day, according to the newspaper.

From these documents, it does not appear that Anthony Fauci responded to this email of March 11, 2020.

Interviewed on CNN Thursday, Anthony Fauci explained to remain “open” on the origin of Covid-19: “I always said, and I will tell you again, John, [Berman, le journaliste de CNN], that I continue to believe that the most probable origin is that of an animal species towards humans, but I remain totally open to the idea that if there can be other origins, [s’] there may be another reason, it could be a lab leak. “
