The update deadline for 2 FritzBox routers is said to have expired only recently. The number of older devices without advanced security software is therefore increasing. The good thing: AVM provides users with updates over the years.

Isolated cases show how dangerous it can be without the latest firmware. In 2021, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) warned of attacks on FritzBox routers. An update was able to protect users at the time.
