No censorship in the event of overflows, assures France Télévisions

The broadcast of the final of the Coupe de France football will be “faithful” to what will happen in the stadium, assured Saturday France Télévisions, after fears from the CGT concerning “live censorship” in the event of whistles at the against Emmanuel Macron.

“France Télévisions is doing its job and will ensure the best broadcast of this Coupe de France final, the most factual and faithful to what will happen in the stadium,” the group told AFP on Saturday.

The day before, the CGT of France Télévisions had indicated in a press release that “the whistles and boos against the Head of State which could occur during or at the end of the meeting” would be “cut off on the air”, claiming to rely on press information. “If this were the case, it would be a case of major censorship in our country which will once again discredit the information served on France 2”, according to the union.

The trophy presented in the grandstand

Emmanuel Macron must attend the final of the Coupe de France football which will oppose Nantes to Toulouse on Saturday evening, under high tension due to social protest. According to a source familiar with the matter, he will not come down to the lawn to greet the players.

The Paris police chief, Laurent Nuñez, also decided on Friday that the presentation of the trophy would take place “in the gallery”, rather than on the lawn, because of the risk of invasion of the field.

The Paris police headquarters also banned the rally planned by unions near the Stade de France. The unions, which had planned the distribution of whistles and red cards to spectators at the exit of the metro and RER, filed an appeal before the administrative court.
