Increased Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks: What We Know So Far

The buzz surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 is intensifying as leaks continue to emerge, with Nintendo seemingly powerless to halt the flow of information. Over the past few weeks, accessory manufacturers have jumped on the bandwagon, launching pre-orders for their products alongside unofficial images showcasing the console’s design. The unveiling of CES 2025 brought even more significant leaks, including a replica of the device that aligns with the numerous rumors circulating in recent months. The revelations just keep coming, revealing more details about the Nintendo Switch 2.

Design and Features of the Nintendo Switch 2

The design of the Nintendo Switch 2 has reportedly leaked once more. According to Genki, a company involved in gaming accessories, the model showcased at CES 2025 is “perfectly identical” to the anticipated design of the next-generation console. While Genki may possess insider knowledge, it’s important to note that this information is unofficial and represents a mock-up of the console’s potential final appearance. Following Genki, the reliable tech site 91mobiles, in collaboration with OnLeaks, has added to the discussion by producing a 360-degree video preview of the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside still images.

This latest leak confirms the previously speculated bulkier console design, which includes magnetic Joy-Cons, larger buttons, and an additional button on one of the detachable controllers. 91mobiles also disclosed the expected dimensions of the console, estimating it to be 27.1cm x 11.64cm x 3.14cm, compared to the original Switch’s dimensions of 23.9cm x 10.2cm x 1.4cm. The new Joy-Con controllers are anticipated to be larger as well, measuring 11.64cm x 4.08cm x 3.14cm, versus the original’s 10.2cm x 3.59cm x 2.84cm. Furthermore, the screen is rumored to transition from a 7-inch OLED display to an 8.4-inch LCD for the Nintendo Switch 2.

91mobiles and OnLeaks have also detailed some additional features of the upcoming console. The power and volume buttons are expected to be positioned at the top, alongside a cartridge slot, echoing the current console’s layout. While there has been speculation about removing the 3.5mm headphone jack, Nintendo appears committed to retaining it, allowing users to connect wired headsets. A significant shift involves relocating the USB-C port from the bottom to the top, potentially due to a redesign of the U-shaped kickstand at the back.

One of the Joy-Cons may feature a second button beneath the “Home” button, and additional triggers could also be introduced. Despite the flurry of leaks and speculation, Nintendo has not made any official comments regarding these developments. When the Nintendo Switch 2 is finally unveiled, enthusiasts will need to be ready to act quickly, as analysts predict that stock shortages could occur sooner than anticipated, even though Nintendo is preparing for high demand.
