Nine months in prison for hitting a gendarme on the evening of the World Cup final

We had not gone far from a tragedy on December 18 at Pouzauges in Vendée. While everyone was watching the final of the Football World Cup that evening, the gendarmes had been intrigued by the behavior of a motorist who was zigzagging at low speed, reports West France. One of the soldiers was then positioned in the middle of the roadway to carry out a check. But the driver refused to comply, hitting the gendarme who had drawn his weapon.

Dragged about ten meters, the latter had fortunately not been injured. The driver, who had fled, was arrested shortly after. Tried Monday before the court of La Roche-sur-Yon, the fugitive was sentenced to eighteen months in prison, including nine months firm. His license was also suspended for six months and he will have to pay 700 euros in damages to the victim.
