Nine people, including eight children, were killed in a shooting at a school in Kazan, a city in central Russia, on Tuesday, where one of the suspected shooters, a teenager, was arrested, news agencies said. Russian.

“The police arrested a teenager, who is suspected of being at the origin of the shooting,” said another source within the rescue service quoted by Ria Novosti, who adds that 21 brigades of paramedics were dispatched to the scene. “The shooter has been arrested. He’s a teenager, ”added an anonymous source quoted by the Interfax agency. According to Interfax and TASS, a second suspected gunman could still be in the school building.

“We heard an explosion in the school building, we see strong smoke”, previously indicated an unidentified witness, quoted by Ria Novosti. “I was in class, I first heard an explosion, then gunshots,” a teacher from the school confirmed to the Tass agency. The authorities of Tatarstan, the Russian republic of which Kazan is the capital, announced for their part the strengthening of security measures in other schools in the city.
