This evening in the Gärtnerplatztheater with the Bach Consort Vienna and the viola master Nils Mönkemeyer was a musical journey of a special, highly entertaining and lively kind. A journey from southern Argentina to Venezuela in the north of the South American continent, a journey into the various sound spaces of baroque guitars, the southern Italian (!) long-necked lute Colascione, percussion and the viola as a distinctive melody voice when played as virtuosically, animatedly and animatedly as Nils Mönkemeyer did on this evening.
