The suspensions of PSG players Neymar and Presnel Kimpembe for the Coupe de France final against Monaco on Wednesday were confirmed after consultation with the Olympic Committee (CNOSF). “The suspension is confirmed,” two sources told AFP.

The capital club had filed an appeal with the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, which could appoint a conciliator and temporarily lift the suspension of the two players, and therefore allow them to play.

Verratti also absent

The suspended suspension match that hung over Neymar, following his exclusion against Lille in early April, fell after the warning received by the Brazilian in Montpellier (2-2, 6-5 at the tabs) last Wednesday during the semi final.

Kimpembe was given a suspension of three firm games plus a suspended sentence for his tackle on Jérémy Doku who earned him a red card in Rennes (1-1) in early May. The absence of the two internationals is a blow for PSG, already deprived of Marco Verratti, affected in a knee.

“It does not change our preparation”

The French defender and the Brazilian striker did well in match-day training at the Stade de France, the first quarter of an hour of which was open to the press, as if they were going to play the next day. These doubts “do not affect our preparation in any way,” Pochettino said the day before the final.

“I like playing against the best players, but the rules are the rules, and they are clear,” Monaco coach Niko Kovac said earlier today. If they play, that doesn’t change our preparation, we will have to attack and defend together. “
