Newspaper release for “One Million German Passports” by Alfredo Jaar – Munich

The installation “One Million German Passports” by Alfredo Jaar, which has been on display in the rotunda of the Pinakothek der Moderne since the end of March, revolves around migration, naturalization and identity. A million German passports are indicated here, closely stacked behind a high-security glass wall. The number is intended to commemorate the refugees who came to Germany in 2015, but also the people who voted for the AfD two years later. The Architekturmuseum der TUM has asked international experts from Navid Kermani and Mirjam Zadoff to Dimitry Porzellanov and Atossa Abrahamian to Sinthujan Varatharajah and Donatella Di Cesare for contributions and designed a publication that will be presented next Tuesday as part of a discussion.
