Samsung has introduced three new devices in the Galaxy S class and the Galaxy Book3 series. The mobile devices are characterized by higher performance, better cameras and, above all, a higher price. Will the smartphone become a luxury item?

Samsung has introduced the new smartphones of the S23 series. The focus is on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which works with a 200 MP camera.

The South Korean ITK-Riese has presented three new smartphones in the Galaxy S23 series: the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23. Similar to their predecessors of the S22 class, the mobile phones have an integrated S Pen and work with a powerful processor from Qualcomm. And despite new cameras continues Samsung with the new devices essentially on product maintenance. The overall design has become a bit more minimalist. And while the S23 Ultra looks more angular, the design of the S23+ and S23 is very similar to previous models.

In the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the flagship of the series, the Manufacturer for the first time a 200 MPcamera installed. It works with a new type of sensor pixel-Binning technology. The sensor simulates different pixel sizes in order to obtain better images in a wide range of lighting conditions. Four to 16 adjacent pixels are combined in weak light.

The S23+ and S23 have a 50 MP main camera with a cover from F1.8. There is also a 12 MP ultra wide-angle lens (F2.2 aperture) and a 10 MP telephoto lens with triple optical zoom (F2.4). And because selfiecameras are so important today, the Galaxy S23 series offers fast autofocus and a Super HDR selfie camera. As with its predecessors, the S23 models also offer ambitious photographers the option of saving images in RAW format. It has to be DSLR-Allow similar recordings and image processing.

Fast and powerful

The new S-Class is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor specially developed for Samsung. Through this CPUmicroarchitecture, the working speed of the Galaxy S23 series is said to be around 30 percent higher than that of the S22 series. With the new CPU and ray tracing support, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be interesting for gamers. In addition, the large vapor cooling chamber in all models should ensure a consistently high speed even during long gaming marathons.

The S23 smartphones are available in different memory versions, with the smaller models having a whopping 8 GB is limited. The S23 Ultra, on the other hand, can handle up to 12 GB R.A.M. and 1 TB Main memory to be equipped.

The S23 Ultra has a 6.8-inch screen with a refresh rate of up to 240 Hz. The S23+ offers a 6.6-inch FHD+ resolution screen, while the S23 comes with a 6.1-inch FHD+ display. The two smaller S23 models also work with the high refresh rate of 240 Hz. The top model has a 5,000 mAh stronger battery pack integrated. The S23+ has a 4,700 mAh battery for long runtimes and the S23 has a 3,900 mAh battery. The display of all three devices is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. In addition, they are all IP68-certified and can therefore fall into the tub without being damaged.

For more sustainability and Samsung also offers a longer service life of up to four years updates (for the One UI user interface and Android OS) and five years of security updates.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 will be available from February 17, 2023. The prices (RRP) depend on model and memory options:

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 (128GB): 949 euros
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 (256GB): 1,009 euros
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ (256GB): 1,199 euros
  • Samsung Galaxy S23+ (512GB): 1,319 euros
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (256GB): 1,399 euros
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (512GB): 1,579 euros

Galaxy Book3 Ultra

Samsung has also expanded that Notebook-Portfolio. The models Galaxy Book3 Ultra, Book3 Pro 360 and Book3 Pro have been added. The premium notebook, the Galaxy Book3 Ultra, is equipped with the latest intel-13th Gen Core i9 processor and Nvidia Geforce RTX-Laptop-GPU. The AMOLED display works with adaptive up to 120 Hz and has a resolution of 3K (2,880×1,800 pixels).

The Book3 Pro 360 and the Book3 Pro also work with the latest Intel Core processors. They are offered with the Core i5 or Core i7 CPU and Intel Iris Xe graphics. The 2-in-1 device, the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360, has a 16-inch AMOLED display with S Pen functionality. The 14-inch screen of the Book3 Pro also offers the 3K resolution and a brightness of 400 nits.

The slim notebooks of the Galaxy Book3 series come in an all-aluminum frame. The Galaxy Book3 Ultra is available with a 16-inch display in graphite. The Galaxy Book3 Pro will be available in Graphite in 14 and 16 inches. And the Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 will be available in Graphite and Beige colors, the model with 5Gconnectivity give in the color Graphite.

The Galaxy Book3 series will also be available from February 17, 2023. Prices for the Book3 Ultra start at 2,799 euros (RRP) for the version with the Intel i7 chip, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. The Book3 Pro 360 should be available from 2,499 euros (RRP). The Book3 Pro will be on the shelves from an RRP of 1,699 euros.
