Iran attacks Israel with missiles
According to Israeli military radio, almost 200 rockets were fired from Iran at Israel. As the Israeli airport authority also announced, take-offs and landings were suspended at all airports in Israel. Loud explosions and sirens were heard in cities like Tel Aviv. The instruction for the Israeli population to seek shelter in bunkers was lifted in the evening, as the Israeli military announced on X.
Iran itself has claimed responsibility for the attacks. A statement from the Revolutionary Guard said further attacks would follow if Israel retaliated. The attack with dozens of rockets was in retaliation for the killing of Hamas foreign chief Ismail Haniya, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and an Iranian general, state television said.
A reporter from the TV station CNN reports on impacts and fires in Tel Aviv, but it is not clear whether rockets actually hit there or just fallen debris from intercepted rockets. According to a spokesman for the Israeli military, there is currently no knowledge of any possible injuries as a result of the Iranian fire. It was also said that the attack was serious and would have consequences.
