The volunteers at the Hachinger Tisch are happy about a new transport vehicle for the weekly food distribution. The second mayor of the municipality of Taufkirchen, Michael Lilienthal (free voters), presented the car keys and lucky charms for the van financed by the municipality of Taufkirchen to the volunteers from Caritas in front of the town hall in the presence of the head of department Claudia Mammach. Lilienthal thanked the team of helpers for their years of commitment, which will also be maintained under the current conditions. This is a positive sign of solidarity and social cohesion, said the local politician. The new vehicle replaces the previous transporter, which was no longer reliable due to its age. The “Hachinger Tisch” has existed since 2005 under the sponsorship of Caritas and with great support from the communities of Taufkirchen, Oberhaching and Unterhaching. Every week, around 130 volunteers ensure that groceries are collected from around 20 surrounding supermarkets and specialty shops and passed on to around 350 needy people from the affiliated communities.
