This is the second time that the British army has taken action alongside American forces since the start of strikes against Yemeni Houthi rebels on January 12.

American and British forces are carrying out strikes on sites in the Yemeni capital Sanaa and in other areas of the country, the Houthi rebel news agency announced early Tuesday (January 23). Forces “American-British launch raids on the capital Sanaa and several governorates” of the country, the Houthis’ Saba news agency said in a brief alert in Arabic.

Washington and London confirmed shortly after, saying they had targeted eight targets. “Today’s strikes specifically targeted a Houthi underground storage site and Houthi missile and aerial surveillance sites”it is specified in a joint press release.

This is the second time that the British army has taken action alongside American forces since the start of strikes against the Houthis on January 12. These are being carried out in response to repeated attacks by Yemeni rebels on merchant ships in the Red Sea, a crucial area for global trade.
