New stadium for the BMW Open in Munich: Millions for millionaires? – Munich

The way in which the Free State and the city are supporting the construction of a new professional tennis stadium in Munich is questionable. But the decision itself is the right one.

Stefan Jagel is to be commended. The chairman of the Left/The Party faction in Munich’s city council is a nurse. He points out the sore points of the city and state’s decision to generously support the construction of a new tennis stadium on the MTTC Iphitos site in northern Munich. The state wants to pay a good 14 million euros, the city of Munich 8.6 million. Such generous support for a club that charges a lot more than 1,000 euros in joining fees so that it can continue to host a tournament for professionals that bears the name of a major Munich car manufacturer? Millions for supposed millionaires?
