This time, the hereafter plays a major role in the film starts of the week. Only Lassie barks in the here and now.

Between horror and Comedy: Enter the realm of the dead in “Geistervilla” and “Talk To Me”. And Lassie goes manhunting.

“Haunted Mansion” starring Danny DeVito and Jamie Lee Curtis

The Disney comedy “Haunted Mansion” (original title: “Haunted Mansion”) is based on the ghost train of the same name from the Disneyland amusement park. The film revolves around a single mother and her son who discover that their newly purchased house is inhabited by ghosts. To solve the problem, they hire a group of so-called spiritual experts, including a tour guide, a psychic, a priest and a historian.

Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis and Winona Ryder are among the numerous stars who posed for the camera for “Haunted Mansion”.

For Disneyland fans, the film has some inside gags ready. This is the second time Disney has released a film inspired by the Haunted Mansion. In 2003, Eddie Murphy starred in the comedy, also called The Haunted Mansion but with a different plot.

With Lassie to South Tyrol

Long hair, long muzzle and pretty smart: The “perfect heroine” Lassie is back on the big screen. This time the collie lady goes on a criminal hunt. In 1938, US writer Eric Knight created the dog character. Since then, the stories have been filmed several times.

In 2020 Lassie returned to the German cinema screen. Now follows with “Lassie – A new adventure” the second part.

“Talk To Me”: Socially critical necromancy

Horror films with necromancy have become an integral part of the collective memory of film fans, at least since the classic “The Exorcist”. But not all of them have a socially critical side like the new film “Talk To Me” by Australian web video producers Daniel and Michael Philippou.

In the film, a mysterious sculpture of a hand circulates in a small Australian town. With her, groups of friends put themselves in a trance one after the other and summon the dead from the afterlife.
