As Disney’s mermaid, Halle Bailey is curious about the human world. An award-winning documentary is dedicated to photographer Nan Goldin, and Robert De Niro once again plays a grumpy oldie.

Two decades after the animated film, a new version of Disney’s mermaid story “Arielle” is coming to cinemas. This time, human actors play in the fantasy film. Halle Bailey takes on the lead role of the curious mermaid who wants to learn about human life. Melissa McCarthy (“Gilmore Girls”) plays Ursula and Javier Bardem (“The Perfect Boss”) stars as King Triton. Composer Alan Menken – now a multiple Oscar winner – originally wrote the music for the 1989 cartoon. He’s also in the new film. Directed by Rob Marshall (“Chicago”, “Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides”).
