If you want to surf the Internet quickly, you need a suitable one WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESSRouter. The German manufacturer AVM now announces two new models. While the FritzBox 6690 Cable is intended for use on cable Internet connections, the FritzBox 4060 is aimed at people who, for example, have a cable, glass fiber or want to add WLAN access to the DSL modem.
FritzBox 6690 Cable: New cable flagship
Fritz boxesThere are already quite a few that can be used at cable connections. For example the FritzBox 6590 Cable or the FritzBox 6660 Cable (test). AVM is now announcing a new top model: the FritzBox 6690 Cable. This cable WiFi router is newly equipped with, among other things WiFi 6. Particularly fast wireless Internet connections are therefore possible if the terminal device connected to the router is also WiFi-6 capable.
At the top are per DOCSIS-3.1 and channel bundling. Top speeds of up to 6 GBit / s in the downstream and 2 GBit / s in the upstream are possible. External devices can also be connected via one 2.5 gigabit and three gigabit LAN ports as well as two USB3.0 connections with the FritzBox 6690 Cable. Ideal for integrating storage media or printers into the home network.
And of course the new cable router is also equipped with many smart home functions and a complete telephone system (DECT, IP, ISDN, analog). If desired, this also includes answering machines for the stored phone numbers and call forwarding. The FritzBox 6690 Cable is expected to be offered in 2021. AVM has not yet revealed a price, but 250 to 300 euros should be a realistic price range.
FritzBox 4060: Make a wireless router out of a modem
If you already use an Internet connection behind a simple broadband modem at home, but have not yet switched a WLAN network, the new FritzBox 4060 could be of interest to you. Because you can simply connect this WiFi router to a broadband modem so that you can use a WiFi network.
This new addition from AVM is also equipped with WiFi 6 technology. There are also three radio units and twelve antennas that work on three frequency bands. This makes WLAN data rates of up to 6 GBit / s possible, the manufacturer AVM promises.
Further features: A 2.5 Gigabit WAN connection, three additional Gigabit LAN ports and a USB 3.0 connection. And as the first model in the 40 series FritzBox, this WLAN router is also equipped with a DECT base for connecting up to six telephones. There is also the option of connecting smart home products to the router and extras such as a Parental controls, Media server and WLAN guest access.
The FritzBox 4060 should also be available towards the end of 2021. There is still no information on the price for this model either, but in the end the non-binding retail price should be between 100 and 150 euros.
Another new addition is already available.
Only available for a few days: The FritzBox 6850 5G. It should provide broadband internet wherever no DSL connection can be switched. However, this FritzBox is anything but cheap.
