Paca hospitals will still have to adapt to the rise of the third wave. Activated last week, the fifth level of crisis management was “reinforced” on Tuesday to deal with the intensification of the viral circulation of Covid-19, announces the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

This procedure will make it possible to once again increase the reception capacity in the intensive care units. The number of beds will thus go from 800 to 850, indicates the organization. “Samples and transplants, oncology and urgent targeted surgery” remain guaranteed, as does the activity of abortion and close monitoring of chronically ill patients, he specifies, but certain operations will therefore be postponed.

To limit these deprogramming, transfers of Covid-19 patients are continuing, “primarily to the Occitanie region”, also reports the ARS. Since February 24, 52 medical evacuations have been organized, mainly from the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Alpes-Maritimes.
