Michael Keaton couldn’t just revert to Batman in “The Flash”. The actor is said to be in “Batgirl” as well.

A new “Batgirl” movie will premiere at HBO Max in 2022 – and Michael Keaton (70) is said to be Batman! As reported by “Variety”, the actor is to play alongside leading actress Leslie Grace (26) in the DC strip and thus return to the iconic role.

For the first time he played Bruce Wayne alias Batman in the films “Batman” (1989) and “Batman Returns” (1992) by director Tim Burton (63). However, he gave up the role during development of a third film after Burton was replaced as director by Joel Schumacher (1939-2020). Val Kilmer (61) took on the role in “Batman Forever”. It is already clear that Keaton will slip into the role in “The Flash” again.

“The Flash”, which will hit theaters in the fall of 2022, will, among other things, examine what Keaton’s version of Batman has been up to since it was last seen. In the story, Ezra Miller’s (29) character Barry Allen is said to travel back in time. And in the process inadvertently creates another universe that is protected by Keaton’s Batman. In the film, Ben Affleck (49) is said to appear in another Batman version.

“Batgirl”: That’s what it’s about

Michael Keaton saw it as a challenge to see if he could make a comeback: “To be honest, I always had in the back of my mind, ‘I bet I could come back and nail him down,'” Keaton said of Batman in mid-August in an interview with “The Hollywood Reporter”. The movie star added, “So I was like, ‘Now that you are asking me, let me see if I can do it.’

Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl’s first solo film is slated to come exclusively to HBO Max next year. Leslie Grace plays the title heroine, JK Simmons (66), like in “Justice League”, her father, the commissioner James Gordon, known from the Batman films. The directors are the “Bad Boys for Life” makers Adil El Arbi (33) and Bilall Fallah (35).
