Neuried – 37 discounted apartments for the needy – District of Munich

The allocation of the 37 apartments at affordable rental prices on the Hettlageareal, the new Neuried campus, is in the last legs. The municipality received a total of 82 applications. So far, the municipal councils have worked through a catalog of criteria and prioritized applicants in two meetings. The future tenants are all from Neuried. The completion of the apartments is planned for June 2022.

Of the total of 200 apartments that are currently being built on the new campus, 37 apartments are being rented out by the municipality at a rental price of twelve euros per square meter. When the price was tied down years ago, some councilors found it too high, today everyone is happy to have agreed on it, as the general rent level has risen sharply in the meantime, said Mayor Harald Zipfel (SPD) on request.

The municipal councils used a catalog of criteria with a point system as a basis for awarding the two- to four-room apartments. For example, citizens who live in Neuried, who do voluntary work who look after other family members – whether they are children or relatives in need of care – or who have a low income, were given preferential treatment. There is a family that currently lives with six people in one room – they too were preferred, according to Zipfel. Future tenants are currently choosing their apartments based on the existing floor plans.

It is up to the landlord to decide whether they will get the apartment they want. That is not the municipality, but the respective apartment owners themselves. You may reject a maximum of two applicants selected by the municipality. In the next few years, more apartments will be built on the “Südlich Maxhofweg” site, some of which will be given at lower rents. The mayor is confident that in the long term all citizens of Neuried will find affordable housing if they need them.
