Watch the video: Stranded twice: Orca dies on the Dutch coast
STORY: An orca died in the Netherlands over the weekend after washing up on a beach. Animal rights activists first discovered the animal near Cadzand in the province of Zeeland and pulled it back into deeper water. However, when the orca swam onto the beach a second time, there was nothing more that rescuers could do for it. The animal is now being studied at Utrecht University. The researchers want to find out the exact cause of death and possible causes of the stranding. According to the scientists, the orca was 5.17 meters long and weighed about two tons. The animals are the largest marine mammals of the dolphin family.
