Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan reveal another secret in their Netflix documentary. Who is your daughter Lilibet’s godfather?
The second part of the Netflix documentary by Prince Harry (38) and Duchess Meghan (41) has been available since yesterday, Thursday. In episodes four to six, the focus is primarily on the royal family. It’s about headlines, jealousy in the family, the break between Harry and his brother William (40) and the background of “Megxits”. But the couple also gives a glimpse of their family life in their US homeland of California and finally reveals who sponsored their daughter Lilibet Diana (1): actor Tyler Perry (53).
The billionaire actor and film producer is one of Harry and Meghan’s closest friends. In late March 2020, the couple left Canada to move into Perry’s Los Angeles mansion. Harry and Meghan went into hiding with him for six weeks until the press got wind of their new place of residence.
In the Netflix documentary, Perry now reveals how he became Lili’s godfather. “We were on the phone and joking around. Suddenly they got serious. They said to me, ‘We’d like you to be Lili’s godfather.’ At first I just said, ‘Wow!’ I had to let that sink in first.” But then he finally declared: “I would be honored.”
Later it became clear to him that a large church baptism in the United Kingdom could possibly come his way. “I don’t do that,” the actor told the royal couple when they called back. Instead, the newly appointed godfather suggested holding a more private ceremony in the United States. Shortly after Lili’s birth, the question of where the little one would be baptized caused discussions – in the USA or in Great Britain?
Serious allegations from Tyler Perry
Perry also spoke about another point in the documentary. The actor raised serious allegations against the palace. This one would have let Harry and Meghan down when they needed it. “I saw my mother abused for years. I knew the clues and how it worked. A lot of people said, ‘Tyler, how can you compare that to your mother’s abuse?’ Meghan was abused and so was Harry,” Perry said. The fact that the two no longer received personal protection and no more money from the family was a form of violence. They would have tried that Harry and Meghan buckle and come back.
