Near Grafing: Missing senior citizen is found with the help of a drone – Ebersberg

Modern technology may have helped save the life of an 86-year-old woman on Wednesday. The elderly woman, who is suffering from the onset of dementia, was reported missing by the relatives to the Ebersberg police at around 8 p.m. – by this time she had been missing for four hours.

Since the first search by the local emergency services was unsuccessful, extensive search measures were initiated. Search dogs from the Munich Airport Police Inspectorate and the Munich Police Headquarters and a drone from the Munich Airport Police Inspectorate were requested. In addition, area search dogs from the rescue dog squadron were deployed.

The drone finally brought success: It was through them that the police forces became aware of the elderly lady around 3 a.m. in a wooded area near Grafing. She was unharmed, but disoriented and already severely hypothermic, police reported. She was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital.
