Basketball superstar Embiid with new mega contract
Joel Embiid has a clear goal: to lead his club to the NBA title. And the 76ers from Philadelphia are willing to spend a lot of money on that.
Olympic basketball champion Joel Embiid says he wants to spend the rest of his career with the Philadelphia 76ers and, according to media reports, has signed a contract worth the equivalent of 173 million euros. “Philadelphia is my home,” the 30-year-old All-Star center wrote on Instagram, among other things, in a photo that apparently showed him with the new contract.
Declaration of love to the 76ers
His new contract will also include an option for the 2028/2029 season, the American news agency AP reported, citing a person familiar with the deal who wished to remain anonymous. “I want to be here for the rest of my career. I love this community and everything you have given me and my family,” Embiid wrote.
The 76ers have not won the title in the North American professional league since 1983. Embiid wants to change that, he has been playing in Philadelphia: “There’s a lot more work to be done. You deserve a championship, and I think we’ve only just gotten started.”
