The actress Naya Rivera was killed in a swimming accident in the summer of 2020. She would have been 35 on January 12th.

Naya Rivera (1987-2020), who died in a tragic swimming accident in summer 2020, would have celebrated her 35th birthday on January 12th. In a statement, which is available to the US magazine “People”, her ex-husband Ryan Dorsey (38) remembers the actress. Rivera was married to him from 2014 to 2018 and had a son, Josey (6), with their fellow actors.

Dorsey explains that he has to shake his head at least once a day. For him it is “still unbelievable, so surreal that it is gone”. On her birthday today, Rivera would freak out: “I could almost hear her: ‘Oh my god, I’m almost 40!'” It is difficult for him to write these lines in tears.

An “obnoxiously lovable” laugh

Her son Josey in particular would make Rivera proud today if she could see “how he gives or donates all of the things he loves to friends,” explains Dorsey. The boy has a unique, loud laugh when he watches television, “which is somehow insufferably adorable, as it was hers […]. “That laugh would make anyone smile who could hear it – no matter how you feel about yourself.

Naya Rivera was killed in a swimming accident in July 2020. She had rented a boat to take her son on a trip on Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. The boy was later found alone on the boat. A few days later, Rivera’s body was discovered by divers. Authorities confirmed that the actress drowned.
