Hamann demands separation from Flick: “Lies to our pockets”

TV expert Dietmar Hamann no longer trusts the national soccer coach Hansi Flick to make a sporting turn. In addition, he would no longer nominate Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer or Ilkay Gündogan.
Former national soccer player Dietmar Hamann calls for a separation from national coach Hansi Flick. “From what I’ve heard, that won’t happen. But for me there’s no alternative. We can’t continue like this,” said the Sky expert from the German Press Agency.
“I said after the World Cup that I didn’t see a reason why you should continue with the coach,” said the vice world champion from 2002: “If we believe that in this constellation we have even the remotest chance of the European Championship “If we have the title, then we’re lying to ourselves and all good spirits have left us. We won’t become European champions with this coach.”
Hamann considered the appearance in the first half hour in the 2:3 against Belgium to be “frightening”. He does not accept the reference from Flick and many players to the increase in performance afterwards.
“Anyone can start playing when the game is lost. If the opponent withdraws and Lukaku or De Bruyne are substituted,” he said: “By then they should have been 4-0 or 5-0 down. Then we would have now another topic. But we can’t wait for it to happen, because it’s a matter of time before it happens.”
Hamann calls for change in the DFB team
He was annoyed by “how they tried to talk it up afterwards,” said the 59-time national player: “I wonder what the claim is. We muddle along and say it will be fine. But nothing will work in the constellation. “
Hamann also calls for a change in the team. “One (Thomas) Müller, one (Manuel) Neuer, one (Ilkay) Gündogan – they were in the last three tournaments. You have to give me a reason why one of the three should be back next time,” said Hamann : “There’s no question that they have great merits. But time stands still for no one. You have to make a cut now.”
