National football coach Hansi Flick can plan with the entire squad for the first international match of the year against Peru.
All 23 players around returnee Florian Wirtz completed the first training session of the entire team on the DFB campus in Frankfurt am Main. Bayern professional Jamal Musisla had to leave on Monday due to a hamstring injury.
The three goalkeepers around Marc-André ter Stegen, who was promoted to number one after captain Manuel Neuer’s injury, trained with goalkeeping coach Andreas Kronenberg on a secondary pitch. It is planned that Ter Stegen will “play both games”, Flick had announced with a view to the games on Saturday (8.45 p.m. / ZDF) in Mainz against Peru and then in Cologne against Belgium. “We want to show two successful games,” said the national coach at the new start after the preliminary round at the World Cup in Qatar.
The six international newcomers Marius Wolf, Mergim Berisha, Felix Nmecha, Kevin Schade, Josha Vagnoman and Malick Thiaw, who was subsequently nominated by the U21 team, were also there with full commitment. Flick said on Monday that everyone should also be used for the first time in the test games.
