Hansi Flick is again relying on the experienced internationals Ilkay Gündogan and Antonio Rüdiger for the upcoming international matches. As the “Kicker” reports, the duo is part of the current DFB squad, which the national coach will name on Friday.

Before the summer break, the national soccer team will first play their 1000th international match on June 12 in Bremen against the Ukraine. This is followed by a friendly against Poland in Warsaw on June 16 and the game against Colombia in Gelsenkirchen on June 20.

Manchester City’s captain Gündogan missed the international matches against Peru (2-0) and Belgium (2-3) in March because he had become a father. Defense chief Rüdiger from Real Madrid was one of the players for whom Flick ordered a break to test younger players. Gündogan will not be there against Ukraine, however, as he and his club played the Champions League final against Inter Milan in Istanbul two days earlier.

Flick had already announced in the spring that veteran Thomas Müller would not be considered for the three-pack in June either. Flick will announce on Friday whether other World Cup players such as Leroy Sané or Niklas Süle, who were also absent in March, will be back. Jamal Musiala, who missed out through injury in March, should definitely be included. Captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer won’t be available again until autumn at the earliest after breaking his leg.
