Prince Charles, heir to the British crown, paid tribute on Saturday to Prince Philip, who died on Friday, declaring that his “dear dad” will be “sorely missed” and praising his “remarkable and dedicated service” to his country.

“As you can imagine, my family and I will be sadly missed by my father,” the prince said in a televised statement, thanking the audience for their support “at this particularly sad time”.
