Instead of going to a club privately with friends, the musician prefers to devote himself to his work – although this sometimes gets to him quite a bit, as he now reveals.

The Scottish star DJ Calvin Harris plays in the world’s biggest clubs – privately, however, he avoids discos. “I was never in a club before I was booked for the first time,” said the 39-year-old of the German Press Agency. “It just wasn’t a place where I met friends and socialized. Because having a social life gets in the way of the job of making music.”

Instead, Harris sat in the bedroom and produced music at the beginning of his career. He hasn’t drunk alcohol in ten years. In his opinion, most DJs are more introverted. It is difficult to lead a social life and also to stay creative. “You’re tired, you only get out of the club at five o’clock and you have to take the first plane to the next place. It’s exhausting,” says Harris. Nevertheless, he is “blessed” with his job.

The music producer is responsible for hits by Rihanna (“We Found Love”), Sam Smith (“Promises”) and Dua Lipa (“One Kiss”). He is currently charting alongside British pop singer Ellie Goulding and the dance song Miracle.
