Voiceover A 38-year-old from Solihull, England, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Wednesday for the murder of his girlfriend. Ian Bennett killed 38-year-old Kerry Woolley with more than 50 knife wounds in July last year. Surveillance cameras filmed Bennett leaving Woolley’s house after the crime. Explosive: His mother Lynda Bennett then drove the killer around and helped him to cover up the unbelievable act. Video footage from surveillance cameras and the car’s dash cam show Bennet throwing a bag containing the murder weapon into a river. The knife was later found there. He then disposed of another bag with the victim’s blood-smeared jogging pants and a pair of oven gloves. When Bennett was interrogated by a police officer the day after the murder, the killer was completely shocked and distraught. The police did not fall for the spectacle, however, and Bennett was arrested on the spot. He will be behind bars for at least 25 years. His mother was sentenced to three years in prison for aiding and abetting. A police spokesman said it was hoped that the verdict of the mother-of-two’s family would provide at least some comfort.
