Münsing: Mrs. Schmid and Loriot’s socks – Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

Josefine Schmid knitted socks for Vicco von Bülow for years – the humorist had very precise ideas. A conversation about really good wool, entertaining skits and whether an interview like this is really needed.

Idioms like “Oh, what!” or “Moooment!” Almost everyone connects, provided they have reached a certain age, with the humorist Loriot. That is how much his skits have entered the collective memory. Vicco von Bülow, alias Loriot, cleverly staged and commented on the malaises of the educated bourgeoisie in a subtle, mocking manner and yet never in a common offense. Ten years ago – on August 22, 2011 – the humorist died in Münsing. In the community on the east bank of Lake Starnberg he was an honorary citizen and also privately engaged, albeit always cautious. Outside of town, hardly anyone would know that they liked to wear hand-knitted socks. The 88-year-old Josefine Schmid made a few copies for Loriot. In an interview with the SZ, the woman from Münsingen reveals how that came about and what knitting means for her.
