After the violent action in the regional league football game between Türkgücü Munich and FC Bayern Munich II, an internal procedure is now underway with the Munich police. “An investigation into a possible bodily harm offense was initiated in the office against persons unknown” – by the State Criminal Police Office, the Ministry of the Interior explained in response to a renewed request from the Greens, who had considered the answer to a small request in the state parliament to be insufficient.

The operation on November 19th at the Heimstetten sports park resulted in the game being abandoned after the police stormed a fan block. A non-banned banner with a Kurdistan flag had been hung there, which had provoked Türkgücü supporters. Shortly after the incident, videos of a baton being used, in which a helmeted officer beat a fan lying on the ground, circulated on social networks.

Police chief Christian Huber gave further information to the interior committee on Wednesday. A total of 24 people were injured during the operation. After it had remained unclear for a long time how many officers had sustained which injuries, this time it was specified: Among the 16 injured officers, “four suffered bruises, abrasions and hematomas. Four other police officers suffered bruises and abrasions as well as irritation due to the use of pepper spray. Eight officers suffered Irritation after using the pepper spray.” Eight Bayern fans were injured, five had to be treated in hospital at the time, the police do not know the severity of the injuries.

The association sports court decided last week to repeat the game without spectators.
