Munich: Vegan with star and spirits – Munich

Hardly has the vegetarian starred restaurant Tian at the Viktualienmarkt it was forced to shut down on New Year’s Eve, and the next one, a few hundred meters away, is coming onto the market with a vegan menu. That Wall in Hotterstraße with its young head chef Joshua Leise also has a Michelin star and is known for its regional focus. So far, however, every menu has naturally included fish and meat, even if there are variants for vegetarians on request. But now Leise has also created a vegan menu, which is now available in the restaurant – after all, interested parties have meanwhile declared January as “Veganuary”. Like the normal menu, the seven courses cost 155 euros, but consist exclusively of local and regional vegetables. Among other things, spelt, celery, oats, swedes, fried onions and elderflowers are served (Mural, Hotterstraße 12, Tuesday to Saturday from 7 p.m., telephone 23 02 31 86, www.muralrestaurant.de). It fits that the Munich start-up 3bearswhich has been very successful in developing and selling porridge and other oat-based dishes, will also be offering an oat-based type of risotto from next Monday. Oatsotto The innovation is called, and 3Bears co-founder Caroline Nichols promises that it only takes three minutes to prepare (From January 16th, Oatsotto will only be available exclusively via the homepage www.3bears.de).

If all this seems too healthy for you, the spirits fair might be more suitable Munich Spirits. It takes place on the third weekend in January in the MVG Museum and focuses on whiskey and whiskey – both large, world-famous distilleries and small handicraft businesses are represented. But other spirits from England, Ireland, Scandinavia, France, Italy, USA, South Africa, Japan, Taiwan, Australia and of course Germany can also be tasted and purchased there. Organizer Tanja Berthold says: “We are bringing a festival full of lifeblood and passion for the entire range of the best fine spirits to our state capital.” A reasonable shuttle bus runs from the Giesing S-Bahn station to the museum; young people do not have access (Munich Spirits in the MVG Museum, Ständlerstraße 20, January 20-22, Friday 4pm-10pm, Saturday 2pm-10pm, Sunday 1pm-6pm, tickets 22 euros for one day, 37 euros for two, 47 euros for three days, info below https://muenchen-spirits.de/home).
