Munich today – News from November 22nd, 2021 – Munich

Right now there is again a lot of the supposed division in society of speeches: compulsory vaccination or not, SUV or bicycle, New Year’s gluttony or calm at the turn of the year? Are people really so implacably facing each other, wedged in verbal trenches? I don’t know, to be honest.

But there are things where society is really divided. Or at least neatly separated along one basic characteristic: biological sex. We learn from an early age: the pink shampoo is for girls, the blue for boys (a good hundred years ago the color drawers were still swapped: boys wore pink, for girls it was sky blue). And at some point it was said: Young women put on make-up, young men don’t. Does it have to be like that?

No, says Manuel Ahlemann, and: “There is no gender for make-up.” The 20-year-old is a trained hairdresser, is currently training at a cosmetics school – and is doing his own make-up in such a way that strangers often, no: actually always mistake him for a woman. This confuses many, the young man knows that too, and therefore makes it clear: He is a man who likes to put on make-up, who likes to have painted nails and long hair. No drag, also no transsexuality. I met Manuel Ahlemann for a portrait – and got to know a person who found himself with make-up, became self-confident and rightly asks: “Why should I hide, dress up, not stand by who I am? ” (SZ Plus)

THE DAY IN MUNICH

Triage: “prioritization according to chances of survival”. Medical ethicist Georg Marckmann explains why unvaccinated people should not be placed worse off than vaccinated people when it comes to triage, how patients are prioritized – and why age is not the decisive factor.

Munich restaurateurs are defending themselves against corona curfew. From Wednesday on, restaurants have to close at 10 p.m. But restaurant operators consider the curfew initiated by Prime Minister Söder to be arbitrary – and are announcing legal action.

Expensive renovation case in a prime location: all tenants have to get out. The city of Munich uses its right of first refusal and buys an apartment building in a good location. But the house turns out to be ailing. A risk of collapse can only be averted with emergency measures. And now?

Post in Munich: And again one branch less. The location on Fraunhoferstraße is already the fourth Munich post office to close in 2021. Protest is rising towards the end of a fifth.
